COMMUNITY
THE ANGEL PROJECT
Our charity was founded in 2008 by Lisette Kingo after a visit to the Complex Care unit at Parkwood Hospital. Many patients spend decades in Complex Care units in hospitals and will never go home again; accident victims, MS, ALS patients and others who have been left without tools and the finances to fend for themselves and have been abandoned by their families and society. Hospital foundations are wonderful however they have such a large need to fill that the social agenda and Complex Care units are often left to the last.
CAPES FOR KIDS
Since 2017, Capes for Kids has raised over $2,450,000 for research, education, and care at Holland Bloorview. To date, thousands have joined forces with us by assembling teams, fundraising and wearing capes around the city. With your help, we can make a meaningful difference for kids and youth with disabilities.
KIDSPORT
We work to ensure that no kid is ever left watching from the sidelines. The reality is that cost keeps 1 in 3 Canadian kids out of organized sport, especially kids from marginalized or remote communities. That’s where KidSport comes in. Through a confidential application process, we provide grants of between $250 – $500 to help cover sport registration and equipment costs so that all kids aged 18 and under can play a season of sport.
Because the KidSport program starts at a local, Provincial or Territorial chapter, your support directly shapes sport in your community. Each chapter raises funds, accepts applications, and distributes grants to kids in its own community.
THE GREAT CANADIAN PEANUT BUTTER DRIVE (GCPBD)
Food insecurity is a major problem in Canada. Food banks, which are being frequented at record rates, are being challenged with consistently providing Needy Canadians with low cost, non parishable food alternatives. Peanut Butter, a low cost, nutrient dense superfood, is dissapearing from shelves faster than food donation initiatives can replenish them. The goal of the RCPBD is to help Canadians help Canadians, by providing a medium to help get PB to the people that need it. Donation boxes will be distributed through the greater Toronto Area between November 1-30, with “The Peanut Butter Finale” taking place on November 30th at Redline Athletics (1081 Britannia Road East, Mississauga, Ont)
